The announcement of the government’s ‘roadmap out of lockdown’ has seen us here at Tailored Entertainment absolutely inundated with enquiries in recent weeks. For all our clients, there suddenly seems to be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, and folks just seem so excited at the prospect of weddings coming back as restrictions ease through the spring. If you’re one of the literally thousands of couples who’ve found themselves stuck in the seemingly endless cycle of wedding postponements over the past year, you’re probably seeing a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel, too.
But those of you with a date in the diary during steps two and three have probably found yourselves in a slightly different place. Plenty of you are probably wondering whether to get back on the rescheduling merry-go-round or simply go for it with a slightly smaller guest list. In honesty, there’s no right or wrong answer to this, and you should always go with what feels right for you. But the good news is, if you do decide to stick with your spring wedding date, you can still make it a beautiful, heartfelt, and completely unforgettable day.

Music for Micro-Weddings – Wedding Entertainment for Step 2 & 3
Whilst your guestlist may have to be trimmed a little bit, there’s still so much you can do with the other elements of your wedding day. Over the last year, your suppliers will have become experts in finding creative, out-the-box solutions to countless potential obstacles – and nowhere is this truer than in the field of wedding entertainment.
As one of the UK’s leading suppliers of professional wedding bands, we’ve gotten rather good at adapting our bookings to suit the changing restrictions in recent months. And so, we thought we’d be well placed to offer a few hints and tips on great live music for micro weddings in steps two and three. And if you’re really struggling for inspiration, you can always give us a call! We’d love to hear from you, and we’ll do whatever we can to help.
Live Music For Micro-Wedding – What Are Your Options?
Whilst there’s not a huge amount of guidance on exactly what live wedding music will look like in steps two and three, it’s probably safe to say that a smaller guest list probably warrants a more subtle approach to wedding entertainment. Here, we’ll take a look at the kinds of acts you can look at for your intimate wedding reception.
Already booked a wedding band?
If you’ve already got your wedding entertainment lined up and ready to go, it’s worth thinking about your options. If you’ve booked a big headliner band like an indie rock or soul and Motown wedding band, there’s still every chance they will be able to offer their usual set up from step three. But whether it’s a necessity or an outright choice, it’s worth finding out if your wedding band can provide a paired-back or totally unplugged version of their usual presentation.
Over the past year, our acts have gone above and beyond to offer stripped back, acoustic versions of their standard setups that fit perfectly with a micro wedding.
Take, for example, The Daddy-O’s. They’re one of our most popular North West wedding bands, with a killer setlist that properly packs the dancefloor. But last summer, they took a slightly different approach for a wedding with 30 guests. For one show, they gave their usual sets a live lounge style spin – playing rock n’ roll classics and indie rock floor fillers with a distinctly acoustic feel. It’s a great way to get a taste of your big headliner wedding band in a way that’s a bit less full-on for a wedding with a small guest list.

For even smaller guest lists, you could take inspiration from one of our flagship bands, Festival Nights. This festival style wedding band stripped back their usual set for a wedding of six to a simple acoustic duo. For their first setlist, they performed a roaming acoustic set (more on that later!) and for their second set, they offered a duo version of their standard party setlist – all the same, great party vibes, but still in keeping with COVID policies. Perfect!
Fun, unplugged wedding music options!
If you’re yet to book your wedding entertainment, there are some great options out there that can really get the party started without breaking any potential rules. With the announcement that wedding receptions in step two can only take place outdoors, you might want to start thinking about wedding music that easily transfers to a totally unplugged, acoustic setup. Luckily, we’ve got some great options on that front!
Roaming Bands
Roaming acoustic wedding bands are a fairly new addition to the live wedding music scene – they’ve been hugely popular since they popped up a few years ago. And it’s really not tough to see why. These high-energy acoustic acts mingle amongst your guests, playing super fun, singalong tunes during your drinks reception. They’re a perfect way to get the feelgood vibes flowing from the moment the ceremony comes to an end.
One of the UK’s most popular roaming bands happens to be our very own Wanderland Band. Check out their brilliantly immersive promo video for more info.
Acoustic Duos & Trios
Acoustic duos and trios have really come into their own over the last twelve months, offering that little bit more in terms of sonic texture and presentation from the classic wedding soloist. At their best, they can pack the energy of a much bigger act into a smaller, more intimate presentation.
And if you fancy something a little fresher and more contemporary than the standard ‘two blokes with a guitar’ vibe, there are some really fun options out there for you. Take, for example, Soho Lounge Trio – a super slick live lounge act that brings a deft touch and serious groove to some of your favourite chart killers.
Solo Sax Players
Solo instrumentalists have long been a staple of the wedding drinks reception, but a solo saxophonist can bring something slightly different to your big day. Done right, solo saxophone can be classy and understated without feeling too fussy or classical. A great option would be our very own Ash – a virtuosic sax player that plays along to backing tracks of Jazz standards and modern, singalong classics. He’s perfect for bringing a little taste of live music to your big day.
So, there you have it! Your micro wedding’s entertainment, all sorted! And if you want to chat any further, get in touch or head to our website. We’d absolutely love to hear from you. See you at a wedding soon!
